Question
At constant temperature, the volume of a gas was found to be 400cm3 at a pressure of 760mm of Hg. If the pressure of the gas is increased by the half of the actual pressure find the new volume.
- 320 cm3
- 500cm3
- 266.66cm3
- 600
Hint:
The product of initial pressure and initial volume is equal to the product of final pressure and final volume.
The correct answer is: 266.66cm3
The correct option is c)266.66cm3
Given:
Initial pressure= V1=760 mm Hg
Initial volume = P1=400 cm3
Final pressure= P2 = 760 + 380 = 1140 mm Hg
Final volume = V2 = ?
We know the relation,
P1V1= P2V2
760x400 = 1140 x V2
V2 = 304000 X 1140
V2 = 266.66 cm2
