Question
When does the volume of the gas does not change?
- Pressure is halved and absolute temperature is doubled.
- Pressure is doubled and absolute temperature is doubled.
- Both pressure and absolute temperature are doubled.
- Pressure is increased by twice and absolute temperature is reduced to three times.
Hint:
The relation between temperature, volume and pressure is :
T= PV
The correct answer is: Both pressure and absolute temperature are doubled.
The correct option is c)Both pressure and absolute temperature are doubled.
If both temperature and pressure increase by the same factor, the volume remains unchanged. Since both pressure and temperature is doubled the volume will not change.
As we know,
V=
This means volume is directly proportional to temperature and indirectly proportional to pressure. So, if both temperature and pressure have a same change in magnitude it will be cancelled out and the volume will remain same.
