Question
If a cone with a diameter of 10 meters has a lateral area of 211.95 square meters, find its slant height.
- 13.5 m
- 29.06 m
- 10 m
- 14.46 m
Hint:
The Formula for lateral surface area of the cone is πrl where l is the slant height and r is the radius of the circular base of the cone. substitute the given values to find slant height.
The correct answer is: 13.5 m
Given ,diameter of cone = 10 meters then radius of cone = 5 m and
lateral area of cone = 211.95 square meters let the slant height of cone be l.
Use the lateral area formula,
Lateral area = πrl
211.95= 3.14 x 5 x l
l = 13.5 m
Therefore, slant height of cone is 13.5 m.
