Question

Write an equation to solve the following word problem:
Samantha went bowling with her friends. She paid $3 to rent shoes and then $4.75 for each game of bowling. If she spent a total of $22, then find the total number of games Shakira played..

  1. 3x + 4.75 = 22
  2. 22x + 3 = 4.75
  3. 22 = 4.75x + 3
  4. 22 = 4.75x

hintHint:

Here Samantha went bowling with her friends. She paid $3 to rent a shoes and then $4.75 for each game of bowling. The total amount she spent is $22. We have to find the total number of game she played. For that consider each game to be x and the write equation to the given situation.

The correct answer is: 22 = 4.75x + 3

Here we have write the equation on the given situation.
Firstly, the total amount spent is $22.
Let assume to each game of bowling to be x ,
She paid $4.75 for each game ,
So we can write the equation for total money she spend, that is,
    $4.75x + 3 = 22
    Therefore, the correct answer is 22 = $4.75x + 3

In this question , we have to find the equation for given situation. We write the equation for the total money she spend . Always consider variable of that term which they asked for the find out. Apply same methods in the similar questions.
