Question

If 8 cross times 2 to the power of n plus 2 end exponent equals 32 text  then  end text n equals

  1. 0
  2. 2
  3. 4
  4. 1

hintHint:

We are given a equation. We have to use the rules of indices to solve the equation. We have to find the value of n

The correct answer is: 0

    The given equation is 8 × 2n + 2 = 32
We have to find the value of n.
    Let's solve the equation.
    8 × 2n + 2 = 32
Dividing both the sides by 8 we get,
    2n + 2 = 4
We will write 4 in terms of base 2.
    2n + 2 = 22
The numbers have same base so we will equate their powers.
    n + 2 = 2
Subtracting 2 from both the sides
    n = 0
So, the value of n is 0.

For such questions, we should know rules of indices.
