Question
A man bought a rectangular field of length 144 m and width 64 m. In exchange for this field he wanted to buy a square field of the same area. What would the side of the square field be?
Hint:
Area of a rectangle = length × Width
Area of a square = side2
The correct answer is: Final Answer:- ∴ Side of the square field is 96 m.
Step-by-step solution:-
From the given information-
Length of the rectangular field = 144 m
Width of the rectangular field = 64 m
Area of the rectangular field = Area of the square field …................................... (Equation i)
Area of the rectangular field = length × Width
∴ Area of the rectangular field = 144 × 64
∴ Area of the rectangular field = 9,216 m2 ....................................................... (Equation ii)
From Equations i & ii-
Area of the square field = 9,216 m2
Now, we know that-
Area of the square field = side2
∴ 9,216 = side2
∴ 96 = Side ..................................................................... (Taking square root both the sides)
Final Answer:-
∴ Side of the square field is 96 m.
