Question

A Medicine Capsule is in the shape of a cylinder of diameter 0.5 cm with two hemi spheres stuck to each of its ends. The length of entire capsule is 2 cm. Find the capacity of capsule.

hintHint:

Follow the diagram to understand the shape of the capsule stated in the question.
Volume of cylinder equals pi r squared h
Volume of hemisphere =2 over 3 pi r cubed , where, r is the respective radius.

The correct answer is: The capacity of the capsule is 0.36 cm3

    Explanations:
    Step 1 of 2:
    It is given that
Diameter of cylinder = Diameter of hemisphere = 0.5 cm
    Radius of cylinder = Radius of hemisphere = 0.5/2 = 0.25 cm
Total length of capsule = 2 cm
    Step 2 of 2:
Here the length of cylindrical part of capsule h = length of capsule - radius of both hemispheres
Capacity of capsule = volume of cylindrical part + 2 x  volume of hemisphere
    Substituting the values
equals 22 over 7 open square brackets left parenthesis 0.25 right parenthesis squared cross times 1.5 plus 2 cross times fraction numerator 4 over denominator 3 left parenthesis 0.25 right parenthesis cubed end fraction close square brackets
equals 22 over 7 left square bracket 0.09375 plus 0.0208 right square bracket
    equals 22 over 7 cross times 0.11455
    equals 0.36 cm cubed
    Final Answer:
The capacity of the capsule is 0.36 cm3

The table above shows selected values for the function h . In the x y -plane, the graph of y = h(x) h  is a line. What is the value of (8)  ?

    Note:
After finding the equation y = 2x + 3 , we can verify it by putting the third point in the equation and check if it lies on the line, that is, the third point which is  left parenthesis 4 comma 11 right parenthesis lies on y equals h left parenthesis x right parenthesis
    11 equals 2.4 plus 3
So, the equation  h left parenthesis x right parenthesis equals 2 x plus 3 is the graph of y equals h left parenthesis x right parenthesis.
