Question
A square room with 12 m side is to be tiled with square tiles with 2 m side. How many tiles will be required?
Hint:
Given , the side lengths of square room and square tiles. Find the area of the square room and tile by using a general formula. Now, Find the no. of tiles required by using the formula .
The correct answer is: The no. of tiles required is 36
ANS :- The no. of tiles required is 36.
Explanation :-
Step 1:-Find the area of the square room and tile by using a general formula
Area of square with side length a is .
We get area of room with side length of room 12m (here, a = 12) =
Area of room is 144 sq. m
We get area of room with side length of tile 2m (here, a = 2) =
Area of each tile is 4 sq. m .
Step 2:- Find the no. of tiles required by using the formula.
We get
Substitute the values of area of room and area of tile.
= 36
∴ The no. of tiles required is 36.
