∴ 3y - 2 = $fraction numerator 8 minus 12 y over denominator 4 end fraction$ .................................. (Subtracting 2 both the sides)
∴ 12y - 8 = 8 - 12y ...................... (Multiplying both sides by 4)
∴ 12y + 12y = 8 + 8
∴ 24y = 16 …....................... (Taking all variables and constants on either sides of the equation)
∴ y = $16 over 24$ ............................. (Dividing both sides by 24)
∴ y = $2 over 3$ = 0.67
