Solve the following by using the method of substitution
2X-3Y=-8
Y=X+3

find x by substituting y (in terms of x) in the equation and find y by substituting value of x in the equations.

The correct answer is: x = -1 ; y = 2

Ans :- $x equals negative 1 semicolon space y equals 2$
Explanation :-

$2 x minus 3 y equals negative 8$ —- eq 2
in eq 2.Step 1 :- find x by substituting $y equals x plus 3$ in eq 2.

$2 x minus 3 left parenthesis x plus 3 right parenthesis equals negative 8 not stretchy rightwards double arrow 2 x minus 3 x minus 9 equals negative 8$
$not stretchy rightwards double arrow negative x minus 9 equals negative 8 not stretchy rightwards double arrow negative x equals 9 minus 8$
$not stretchy rightwards double arrow x equals negative 1$
Step 2 :- substitute value of x and find y

$therefore y equals 2$
