Question

The diagonals of a rhombus are 12 cm and 9 cm long. Calculate the length of one side of a rhombus?

hintHint:

eorem states that “In a right-angled triangle,  the square of the hypotenuse side is equal to the sum of squares of the other two sides“. The sides of this triangle have been named Perpendicular, Base and Hypotenuse. Here, the hypotenuse is the longest side, as it is opposite to the angle 90°.
If a is the perpendicular, b is the base, and c is the hypotenuse, then according to the definition, the Pythagoras Theorem formula is given as
c2= a2 + b2

The correct answer is: Hence, the length of the side of the rhombus is 7.5 cm.

    text  Here,  end text OA equals OC equals fraction numerator A C over denominator 2 end fraction equals 6 cm text  and  end text OB equals OD equals fraction numerator B D over denominator 2 end fraction equals 4.5 cm
    Applying Pythagoras theorem in △AOB
    AB2 = OA2 + OB2
    AB2 = 62 + 4.52
    AB2 = 56.25
    A B equals square root of 56.25 end root equals 7.5 cm equals B C equals C D equals A D
    Final Answer:
    Hence, the length of the side of the rhombus is 7.5 cm.
