Established in 1896 as the Chase School by William Merritt Chase, Parsons School of design is one of the seven schools under “The New School” university. Parsons School of creation is a private and co-ed Art and Design school located in New York, U.S. Rachel Schreiber is the Dean of Parsons School of design; it has a strength of around 10,389 students. Among these, 7,125 are undergraduates, and the remaining are P.G. students.
When it came to offering programs in fashion design, advertising, interior design, and communication design, the Parson School of creation was a pioneer in the nation and still does. Additionally, it provides undergraduate and graduate degrees in various art and design fields, including architectural design, design history, fine art, curatorial studies, illustration, design and technology, data visualization, product design, and strategic design and management.
Evolution of “The Chase School” to “Parsons School of Design”
Parsons anticipated the value of art and design to industries as a new phase of the Industrial Revolution. His foresight resulted in several firsts programs at the School, including establishing the country’s first fashion, interior, advertising, and graphic design programs. And showcasing the new courses offered at Chase School, Parson renamed the school “The New York School of Fine and Applied Art.” And stood as the sole director of the School, starting from 1911 till 1930, when he died. In honor of the former director, Frank Alvah Parsons, they renamed the school “Parsons School of Design” in 1941.
Thinking of the further expansion and growth of the School, the Parson School of Design joined the “New School for Social Research” in 1970. The school changed its name to Parsons the New School for Design in 2005 after its parent organization adopted the name “The New School.” It changed its name in 2015 to Parsons School of Design at The New School.

Parson School of design accepts admission through early action and regular decisions. The deadline date for early action is November 1st, and the regular decision is August 1st. Accepted candidate’s notification will be sent on December 3rd for early action and on March 3rd for Regular decision. Aspirants can apply to the Parson School of design through the official website or the Common application portal. And an application fee of $50 applies to all applicants, which can later be waived for qualified students.
