We are now aware of the NAPLAN examination. It has four sections, out of which one is the persuasive writing section. Writing NAPLAN is all about practice, and the more you practice, the better results you will be able to obtain in the same. If your kid wants to flourish in the examination, then it is necessary to have strong persuasive skills. Here we will be having a look at the five things that the parents should check out, which would help them to ensure that they score good marks in the writing section.
Writing flows
The most important thing the students must remember is to keep the writing flowing throughout the entire process of the examination. They must ensure no grammar or writing mistakes in the writing section. Punctuation marks should be used in the perfect way, which ensures that the reader will not have to stop much while reading what has been written in the writing section by the student. If these things were not done by the students, the reader would have to take multiple breaks, which stops his reading flow.
Eventually, this would result in the downgrading of the results of the individual. So, the student must keep these things in mind before they go on with the persuasive writing in the examination. All of the exam checkers have a specialty in a particular field because of which it is way too easy for them to spot the mistakes that your child could have made in the examination. So, if the errors are avoided in the analysis, then it is likely that your child will be able to score good marks in the writing section of the exam.
The Persuasive Structure
The next important thing about NAPLAN writing topics is the persuasive structure of the examination. We all must have heard about the question in which it is being asked to sell this pen to someone. This is the easiest but also the most confusing question of all time. Many students make mistakes in this question, which causes the marks which they obtain in the examination to be affected. The students need to know what is the need for that particular pen to the individual to whom they are selling the pen.
Unless the student can develop a need for buying the pen in the seller’s mind, they will not be able to sell the same quickly. So, the students must know that persuasive writing is not just for the marks or themselves but also for the audience. The audience is the main element of the same. If the students can interact with the audience the same, it would be easy for them to score marks. Keep a few ideas in your mind which would help you to develop a story behind the same and write it.
Mixture of Sentences
Many students stay in the false hope that long sentences will award them the highest points. That is not true. The person reading your writing section would provide you with the highest marks possible only if you can offer them a mixture of short and long sentences. This makes it more leisurely for the reader to understand the meaning of the passage and also maintains the reading flow. There are several reasons which tell why long sentences should not be used in NAPLAN test books.
The main thing which the reader has to look forward to in your writing section is the efforts that have been put forward to separate the sentences and ideas. It would be difficult to organize your thoughts in a single place if you did not use a mixture of long and short sentences. Also, the orders should be collected in chronological order so that the reader can understand what is being conveyed through the passage which has been written by the student.
Ideas
This is probably the most important thing every student ignores when going through persuasive writing in the examination. The only thing which makes your essays more clear and more interesting are the ideas that you create in your mind related to the same. The better ideas you start, the more you will be able to express them in your passage. So, this would automatically help you to ensure that the reader develops an interest whenever they go through the text written by you. The ideas which have been created should be kept clear and not confusing.
It is necessary for the students to ensure that they can express their ideas by providing details to the same. The parties must support the views and present them, so readers find them interesting. The paragraphs should be divided so that all sections represent just one idea and not more than that. Also, the units should be organized so that the ideas are shown as linked. This needs to be done so the reader won’t have any issues while understanding the essay.
Review
The review process is the last but also the point that most students forget after completing the persuasive writing section. Many students just complete the writing section and go on to submit the examination. The NAPLAN writing is not completed as soon as the student finishes the exam. The students must review the entire essay once they are done writing the same. This should be done to ensure that all the details and ideas the student wanted to provide have been given in the best possible manner.
If the information they wanted to provide has been provided, the student can later go on to submit the examination. Along with that, the student should also check his essay from the point of view of a reader. This helps the students know about possible mistakes that could be pointed out whenever the reader goes through their examination. Also, the students would be able to make the potential changes and complete the review process as soon as possible.
