If we talk about the most demanding and challenging undergraduate medical courses, MBBS and BDS are the top choices for almost all 12 PCB students. In India, if you aspire to take admission to any of these, you will have to appear for NEET, clear it with a good rank, and appear for the NEET counseling.

While the total MBBS seats in India are limited, the number of students competing is quite high. Therefore, even if you manage to crack the NEET exam, you may not be able to get into your desired college as you may not meet the required cut-off. Students usually prefer the government colleges for MBBS and BDS admission through NEET.

However, there is also an option to opt for other colleges and management seats. For instance, if you are a student of Andhra Pradesh, you need to register with apmedadm.apntruhs.in to be eligible for any of the government or private seats through state quota.

Students can also get MBBS/BDS admission through management quota seats. For this, they need to apply under the management quota with the respective authority. However, even for these seats, students need to appear for the NEET exam and clear it with a specific cut-off.

MBBS/BDS admission through management quota seats eligibility criteria

For all the students who want to enroll in MBBS/BDS through management quota, let us tell you about its eligibility criteria. It is crucial to qualify it at all costs. As per the eligibility criteria,

  • You must have cleared class 12 board exams for this. The subjects need to be Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology), or Biotechnology.
  • Further, students need to have 50% aggregate scores in the board exams.
  • Also, they must have a valid score and rank in NEET-UG 2021.
  •  As per the directives of the Medical Council of India, any students all across India are valid for the management quota seats.
  •  In addition to all things mentioned above, you also need to make sure that you complete 17 years of age on 31st December. For instance, if you need admission in 2021, by 31st December 2021, you must be 17.
  •  Lastly, all students need to have the following percentile for management quota:

NEET-UG percentile required for MBBS/BDS management quota seats

  •  General Category: 50th Qualifying Percentile and 137 Qualifying Score (out of 720)
  •  SC/ST/OBC: 40th Qualifying Percentile and 107 Qualifying Score (out of 720)
  •  PwD Category (OC): 45th Qualifying Percentile and 120 Qualifying Score (out of 720)

If you want a management seat in BDS/MBBS, make sure you have this particular percentile in the exam, depending on your category. Any candidate with a lower percentile is not valid for admission to management quota seats.

The application process for MBBS/BDS management quota seats admissions

For most Indian states, there are special bodies that manage the MBBS/BDS management quota seats. For instance, in Andhra Pradesh, this body is the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences. It regulates the management quota seats under AP NEET counseling every year. Candidates are required to apply online if they want admission to these.

Thus, to apply for management quota seats, you need to know the competent authority of your state. You need to visit their website and check the regulations specifically about management quota seats. Then, follow these guidelines and apply online for these. If you meet the eligibility, you only need to appear for counseling and hope for the best.

Documents required for MBBS/BDS management quota seats admission

Typically, most states allow students to apply for management quota seats through the online mode. Even for this, you will need some documents. Here are all the crucial documents you may need to apply for MBBS/BDS management quota seat admission:

  • NTA issued NEET-UG 2021 admit card
  • NTA issued NEET-UG 2021 scorecard
  • 10+2 passing certificate
  •  Date of birth certificate or any other equivalent certificate proving your date of birth.

Also, please note that under the management quota, the seats are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis as there are limited seats for it. So, if you do not pay the fee for your seat as soon as possible, it will be given to the next candidate in the line.

Also, each state has its own parameters to decide the set of regulations that can get you admission to these management seats. Therefore, always make sure to check all the guidelines for your state before applying for these MBBS/BDS seats.
