Introduction to Organisms and Their Habitat
A habitat can be referred to as a home.
A habitat is a home and a natural environment in which animals, plants, or other organisms live.
Nearly every place on Earth is home to some animals or plants.
Habitats have features like water, oxygen, soil, sand, and rocks, making them desirable as a home.
Let’s discuss the types of habitats in detail.
Explanation:
The habitats can be on land or in water. There are different categories of habitats in which plants, animals, and organisms live based on different climates or regions of the world.
There are five categories of habitats. Mainly, these are forests, grasslands, deserts, mountains, polar regions, and aquatic habitats.
Types of Habitats
Forest Habitat
Forests are defined as large areas of land covered with plants and trees.
These habitats cover one-third of the planet.
They are home to many different types of plants and animals.
For example, Neem, Sheesham, Palsah, Tiger, Monkey, Gorilla, Porcupine, Elephants, Jackal, etc. These organisms are found in the forest.
Grassland Habitat
Grasslands are large regions comprised of various native grasses.
These areas won’t have many trees or shrubs.
Grasslands are warm like temperate forests but also receive nearly as much rainfall as rainforests.
Animals that live in grasslands include zebras, giraffes, lions, and elephants.
Desert Habitat
Deserts are the areas that receive very little rainfall. In hot deserts, the daytime temperature in summer can reach 45 degrees Celsius.
Organisms such as camel, cactus, Gila monster, and kangaroo rat are found here.
Mountainous and Polar Habitat
These regions are the coldest of all the habitats found on Earth.
These include the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
Polar bears, penguins, seals, and walruses are found in Polar Regions.
Aquatic Habitat
Habitat in water is called aquatic habitat, and it includes rivers, lakes, oceans, and seas.
Aquatic habitat is mainly divided into two kinds.
Freshwater Habitat
Freshwater habitats include rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams.
Fish, frogs, ducks, lotus, and water lilies are found in freshwater.
Marine Water Habitat
Oceans and seas form the largest habitat on the planet.
Some commonly found animals are whales, dolphins, sharks, octopuses, starfish, jellyfish, seahorses, etc., and plants, and seaweeds are the most common.
Describe each habitat and give an example of a plant and animal that lives there.

Introduction: Fossils are the preserved remains of plants and animals whose bodies were buried under ancient seas, lakes, and rivers in sediments such as sand and mud. Any preserved trace of life that is more than 10,000 years old is also considered a fossil. Soft body parts decompose quickly after death, but hard body parts […]
