Question
An addition rule was used to make the pattern of numbers in the table.
If the pattern continues, then the next two numbers will be
- 1050, 1150
- 1150, 1350
- 1150, 1250
- 1050, 1250
Hint:
We are given a sequence of numbers. We have been told that addition is used to form the given sequence. We have to continue the sequence and find the next two numbers. To find the next terms, we will find the difference between the first and second terms. We will use that value to find the required numbers.
The correct answer is: 1150, 1350
The given sequence is 350, 550, 750, 950
We have to find the next two terms in this sequence.
Let’s find the difference between the first and second term. It will be the constant that is added to all the terms.
Constant = Second term – first term
= 550 – 350
= 200
So, the difference between each term is 200
Let’s see how it works for every term.
550 + 200 = 750
750 + 200 = 950
Now, let’s find the next terms.
The last term from the above sequence is 950
So, we will add 200 from the term.
950 + 200 = 1150
This will be our new first term. We will take this term and add 200 to get the next term.
1150 + 200 = 1350
We got the new terms,“1150” and “1350”. We will see which option matches these values.
The complete sequence will be 350, 550, 750, 950, 1150, 1350
And the option which is '1150, 1350’, is the required option.
For such questions, we should know the basic operations. When the rule used to write the pattern is not mentioned, we have to use all four operations to check the pattern. The operations are addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
