Bentonville has 26 bus routes. Each bus can bring 71 students to school. Find the total students can the buses drive to school altogether.

    Here , we have to find the total number of student can drive to school altogether.
    Firstly , we have 26 bus routes, each bus have 71 students.
    Then ,
    1 bus = 71 students
    To find 26 bus, we have to multiply 26 to both sides,
    1 x 26 row = 26 x 71
    We know that the total number of student can drive altogether are 26 x 71, to solve this multiplication we are using partial product rule,
    According to partial product,
    We can write 26 as 20 and 6, and 71 as 70 and 1 , we separate the ones digit and tens digit. Now by partial product, we have:
    20 x 70 = 1400
    70 x 6 = 420
    20 x 1 = 20
    1 x 6 = 6
    Now add all the partial product of find the solution.
    26 x 71 = 1400 + 420 + 20 + 6
    24 x 18 = 1846
    Therefore, the total number of student can drive to school altogether are 1,846.
