Question
Bryan went to a pet shop. He bought 15 gold fish, 19 blue fish, and 11 red fish. How many fish did he buy in all?
- 30
- 35
- 45
- 40
Hint:
Total number of fishes = number of gold fishes +number of blue fishes +number of red fishes
The correct answer is: 45
Total number of fish Bryan bought = 15 + 19 + 11
Add the tens = 10 + 10 + 10 = 30
Add the ones = 5 + 9 + 1 = 15
Add the partial sums = 30 + 15 = 45
So, Bryan bought 45 fish in all.
