Question
Points C(5, 7) and D(–3, –12) are on a line. What is the run from point D to point C?
a. -8
b. -5
c. 8
d. 19
Hint:
Run from 1 point to another can be found by calculating the difference between x-coordinates of the 2 points i.e. Run = x2 - x1.
The correct answer is: c. 8
GIVEN- Point C (5,7) Point D (-3,-12) TO FIND- Run from point D to point C. SOLUTION- For points D (-3,-12) and C (5,7), x1 = -3, y1 = -12, x2 = 5 & y2 = 7. Run = x2 - x1 ∴ Run = 5 - (-3) ∴ Run = 5 + 3 ∴ Run = 8 FINAL ANSWER- Option 'c' i.e. '8' is the correct answer to the given question.
