Question

There are 13 heaps of 4 marbles each.  The total marbles are there in all?

  1. 42
  2. 52
  3. 34
  4. 55

hintHint:

There are 13 heaps of 4 marble each. To find total marble here given marble for 1 heap so just multiply to total heap into marble to find the answer.

The correct answer is: 52

Here we have to find the total marble are there.
Firstly, we have given 13 heap each having 4 marble so we can write,
    1 heap = 4 marble
Total heap is 13 so multiply both side by 13
    1 x 13 heap= 4 x 13 marble
    13 heap = 4 x 13 marble.
So total marble is 4 x 13 , now to find that product we have,
    4 x 13 which 4 times 13 so we can write
    4 x 13 = 13 + 13 + 13 + 13
    4 x 13 =52
Therefore , the total number of marble is 52.
The correct answer is 52 (option (b)).
    Or,
    13 = 10 + 3
    13 × 4 = (10 × 4) + (3 × 4)
    = 40 + 12
    = 52.
    52 marbles are there.

In this question, to find the total marble in heap , we are given the each marble in a heap  to find total marble just multiply the total number heap.

The inverse operation of multiplication is division. For example, since 4 multiplied by 3 equals 12, 12 divided by 3 equals 4. Indeed, multiplication by 3, followed by division by 3, yields the original number. The division of a number other than 0 by itself equals 1.
