Question

What does it mean for two lines to be considered skew?

  1. They are not parallel.
  2. They are located in the same plane.
  3. They are not coincident.
  4. They are not located in the same plane.

hintHint:

Recall the definition of  Skew Lines.

The correct answer is: They are not located in the same plane.

Two lines are said to be "Skew Lines" if they neither intersect with each other nor parallel to each other. But if a set of lines lie on the same plane, then they must be intersecting or parallel. So, for given two lines to be Skew, they must lie on two different planes.
Therefore, they are not located in the same plane.

Note that two lines that lie on two different planes may also be parallel.

    What is the conclusion?

Note thatconditional statement is not always in the form "If-then", for example, "All natural numbers are integers". This is a conditional statement but not in the form of "If-then". But it can be rewritten in the form "If-then" as follows: "If a number is a natural number, then it is an integer."
