Question

The total cost to make one batch of soup is $20. What is the approximate cost per calorie, in cents?

  1. 1.6
  2. 9.9
  3. 33.8
  4. 59.1

The correct answer is: 1.6

    HINT : find the no. of calories present in one batch of $20 soup then convert $20 into cents and divide them with no. of calories to get cost per calorie in cents .
    Explanation :
    Step 1 : finding  total no. of calories got for $20
    $ 20 contain 1 batch of soup
    Where one batch contains 6 servings of soup
    Where 1 serving contains the 203 calories whereas 6 servings(1 batch) contain 6 x 203 calories = 1218 calories in a batch with cost of $20
    Step 2: converting dollars into cents and getting cost per calorie in cents
    $ 20 = 2000 cents
    Where as 1218 calories costs 2000 cents then
    1 calorie cost (fraction numerator 2.000 over denominator 1 comma 218 end fraction) cents
    ∴1 calorie costs 1.642 cents

    x over 2 plus 5 equals k x plus 7
    In the given equation, k is a constant. The equation has no solution. What is the value of k?

    An inconsistent system is a set of equations for which no solution exists.
    One solution of the system is shown as x = y = z = 0. D must be zero for endless solutions (including non-zero ones). There are thus two possible possibilities for k, but there is only one non-zero answer, e.g.: The value of K can be 2 or 0.5.
