HINT – y – intercept means the point (0 , y) i.e. the point where graph touches y - axis
SOLUTION – The given equation is y = 19.99 + 1.50 x
We know that y – intercept is the point where graph touches y – axis i.e. x = 0
y = 19.99 + 1.50 (0)
= 19.99
According to the question total cost consist of a flat fee plus a charge per mile truck is driven. Since ‘x’ represent the no of miles truck is driven, implies that 1.50 is the charge per mile.
So, 19.99 is a flat fee
Hence, option A is correct
