Question

Find the greater ratio of 8 : 15 and 24 : 35

  1. 8 : 15
  2. 24 : 35
  3. equal
  4. none of these

hintHint:

We are given two ratios. We have to compare them and tell the greater ratio.

The correct answer is: 24 : 35

The given ratio is  8:15 and 24:35.
    Both cannot be simplified further.
We have to compare then and tell the greater ratio.
To find the greater ratio, we will divide the numerator by denominator. Greater ratio will have greater value after division.
    8 ÷ 15 = 0.53
    24 ÷ 35 = 0.69
    0.69 > 0.53
So, the ratio 24:35 is greater.

For such questions, we should know how to find the ratio. We will try to simplify the ratios and compare the denominator. If the denominators are different then we divide the numerator by denominator to compare the ratio.
