Question
One serving of a certain brand of microwave popcorn provides 150 calories, 90 of which are from fat. One serving of a certain brand of low-sodium pretzels provides 120 calories, 12 of which are from fat. How many more calories from fat are provided by a 100 calorie serving of the microwave popcorn than are provided by a 100 calorie serving of the pretzels?
The correct answer is: 50
We are given the fat content provided by 1 serving of popcorn having 150 calories & Pretzels having 120 calories.
To find fat content provided by a 100 calarie serving of popcorn & Pretzels.
And then compare the 2 values so obtained.
Step-by-step solution:-
Fat content provided by 1 serving of Microwave popcorn with 150 calories = 90 cal
∴ Fat content provided by a serving of Popcorn with 100 calarie = 60 cal ___________ (Equation i)
Fat content provided by 1 serving of Pretzels = 12 cal
∴ Fat content provided by a 100 calarie serving of Pretzels = 10 cal ___________ (Equation ii)
Comparing the 2 expressions above, we get-
Difference between calaries from fat provided by popcorn and Pretzels = 60 - 10 = 50 calories.
Final Answer:-
∴ A 100 calorie serving of Microwave popcorn provides 50 calories from fat more than that of a 100 calorie serving of Pretzels.
