Question

Two identical capacitors 1 and 2 are connected in series. The capacitor 2 contains a dielectric slab of constant K as shown. They are connected to a battery of emf V0 volts. The dielectric slab is then removed. Let Q1 and Q2 be the charge stored in the capacitors before removing the slab and Q1  and Q2  be the values after removing the slab. Then

  1. fraction numerator Q subscript 1 end subscript superscript ' end superscript over denominator Q subscript 1 end subscript end fraction equals open parentheses fraction numerator K plus 1 over denominator K end fraction close parenthesesQ1=K+1K'/>
  2. fraction numerator Q subscript 2 end subscript superscript ' end superscript over denominator Q subscript 2 end subscript end fraction equals fraction numerator left parenthesis K plus 1 right parenthesis over denominator 2 end fractionQ2=(K+1)2'/>
  3. fraction numerator Q subscript 2 end subscript superscript ' end superscript over denominator Q subscript 2 end subscript end fraction equals fraction numerator K plus 1 over denominator 2 K end fractionQ2=K+12K'/>
  4. fraction numerator Q subscript 1 end subscript superscript ' end superscript over denominator Q subscript 1 end subscript end fraction equals fraction numerator K over denominator 2 end fractionQ1=K2'/>

The correct answer is: fraction numerator Q subscript 2 end subscript superscript ´ end superscript over denominator Q subscript 2 end subscript end fraction equals fraction numerator K plus 1 over denominator 2 K end fraction
