Introduction:
In our daily lives, we use different types of things. Looking at the picture, we realize that the things shown have immense importance in our lives. All of them have their own identity and property.
We are surrounded by many things that are an integral part of our lives. Various things we use are made to fulfill some purpose for us, and their use depends on their properties and purpose.
What Are Objects?
Objects are things that we see around us. When we look around, we can find different types of objects around us like pens, pencils, papers, cell phones, chairs, stones, shoes, bottles, and many more. All of them have their unique properties.
We can touch and feel objects
When we touch objects, we can feel them. Some of the objects are rough; some are smooth. Similarly, some are hard, whereas others are soft.
We know that each object has a different use in our lives. For example, we use the bed for sleeping, a desk chair for sitting and studying, and we use books for reading, etc.
Moreover, if we collect different objects, they all have different shapes and colors. If we see a football and a glass marble, they are round; the table clock and dice in the picture below are square-shaped.
Activities conducted to understand, “different objects have different shapes and colors”:
Activity 1: To Identify the Shapes of Given Objects
The above-shown pictures are a collection of various objects having different shapes; we can separate them as follows:
This tells us that the objects are of different shapes.
Activity 2: To Identify the Colors of Given Objects
The above-given objects have different colors, so we can distinguish them based on their colors as follows:
From this, we can say that the objects are of different colors.
Objects Are Made from Different Materials
When we look around and find various objects around us like buckets, spoons, glasses, furniture, and earthen pots, we notice that objects are made from different types of materials.
Objects can be made out of glass, metal, plastic, wood, cotton, paper, mud, or soil.
Activity 3: To Explain How Objects Are Made from Different Materials
The above-shown objects are mainly made from plastic and metal; we need to separate them as per the material used.
Objects Made from Metal:
One material could be used for making different objects:
Looking around ourselves, we can easily find that one material could be used for making different objects.
For example, bullock carts, chairs, tables, almirahs, etc., are made out of wood.
Now, students can try and think of everyday objects they know that is made mainly of the same material. It would be great fun to make a large table of objects made from different materials.
An Object Could Be Made of Many Materials:
Look at the chairs in the given picture; they are made from different materials. One chair is made from wood, and another one is made from plastic.
Similarly, look at the other picture where tables are also made from different materials like a chair. So, we can say that different materials can be used to make one object.
We can enlist more objects that are made from different materials. We can enjoy collecting information about as many objects as possible.
