Among those objects, some seem to be fixed at particular places and others are not. The moving objects move in many different ways. Some move fast and some slow. Motion:
The pictures above show the crawling ants, the cycling people, the swimming ducks, the running people, and the water falling in Niagara Falls. All the pictures show objects that are moving. The position of all these objects changes with time. Therefore, they are said to be in motion. Thus, an object is said to be in motion if its position changes with time.
Types of Motion:
Motions can be categorized into many different types based on the pattern or the type of path the moving objects take. These are as follows:
1. Linear motion: A motion is said to be linear if it takes place in a straight line.
2. Circular motion: A motion is said to be circular if it takes place in a circular path.
3. Rotatory motion: A motion is said to be rotatory if the object spins about a fixed axis passing through it.
4. Periodic motion: A motion is said to be periodic if it repeats itself after fixed time intervals.
5. Random motion: A motion is said to be random if there is no specific pattern of motion.
