Question

Order the following fractions from least to greatest: 3 over 4 comma 5 over 4 comma 1 fourth.

  1. 1 fourth greater than 3 over 4 less than 5 over 4
  2. 1 fourth less than 3 over 4 greater than 5 over 4
  3. 1 fourth less than 3 over 4 less than 5 over 4
  4. 1 fourth greater than 3 over 4 greater than 5 over 4

hintHint:

For calculating the order of fraction first we need to see the denominator, if the denominator is not same then we have to make denominator same by taking the LCM and then multiplying the fraction with some number to make the denominator same. If the denominator is same then we have to compare the numerator to check the order.

The correct answer is: 1 fourth less than 3 over 4 less than 5 over 4

Step1: In this question the denominator is same, so we need to only compare the numerator.
Since 5 greater than 3 greater than 1. So, the order of the greatest fraction will be 1 fourth less than 3 over 4 less than 5 over 4.
