Question
A care-sharing service charges $6 per hour to rent a car plus a $10 fee for insurance. Which of the following gives the total cost c, in dollars, of a rental that lasts t hours?
- c = 6t + 10
- c = 6t - 10
- c = 10t + 6
- c = 16t
The correct answer is: c = 6t + 10
HINT :- total cost is equal to sum of rent upto t hours and insurance fee.
Given time is t hours, insurance fee is $10, rent per hour = $6
total cost is equal to sum of rent upto t hours and insurance fee.
Step 1: finding rent upto t hours
Rent upto t hours = t × rent per hour .
Rent upto t hours = t × $6 = $ 6t
Step 2:- find total cost c
insurance fee is $10
∴Total cost c = 6t + 10 .
