Question
A farmer had a rectangular plot measuring 500 m by 100 m. If he fences the plot 4 times with barbed wire, what length of wire was used?
The correct answer is: Final Answer:- ∴ 4,800 m long wire would be used to fence the given plot 4 times.
Hint:-
i. Fencing refers to blocking or covering the boundaries of a land with fences i.e. wooden blocks/ wires to prevent livestock from getting away.
ii. Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (length + breadth)
Step-by-step solution:-
For the given rectanglular plot, we are given that length = 500 m, breadth = 100 m
We need to find the length of wire used for fencing the plot 4 times.
Since fences are put on the boundaries of the plot, we need to calculate the perimeter of the plot to find the length of wire used.
∴ Perimeter of the given plot = 2 (length + breadth)
∴ Perimeter of the given plot = 2 (500 + 100)
∴ Perimeter of the given plot = 2 × 600
∴ Perimeter of the given plot = 1,200 m.
∴ length of wire used to fence the given plot 4 times = 1,200 m × 4
∴ length of wire used to fence the given plot 4 times = 4,800 m
Final Answer:-
∴ 4,800 m long wire would be used to fence the given plot 4 times.
