Is the given relation from the set X to the set Y a function? If so, is it one-to-one?

A function from set X to the set X is a relation which associates every element of a set X to unique element of set Y.
 

The correct answer is: the given relation is not a function.


    We have given the data in the arrow diagram format.
    We will convert the given data into points

    As (-2, 5), (-3, 6) , (-3, 7) , (-4, 8)

    Domain:-  { -2 , -3 , -4 }

    Co- Domain:- { 5, 6, 7, 8 }
    From the given data we can analyze that the member in the domain set i.e.-3 has two images i.e. 6 and 7 in the co-domain .
    We know that in a function one member in the domain set cannot have two images in the co-domain set.
    Therefore, the given relation is not a function.
    Note: All functions are relations but all relations are not functions
