Question
Solve System of equations using Substitution :
5X - Y = -4
Y = 5X - 4
Hint:
find x by substituting y (in terms of x) in the equation and find y by substituting the value of x in the equations .If we get an true statement we say they have infinite solutions .If we get the false statement we say they have no solution.
The correct answer is: They have no solution for the given system of equations.
Ans :-no solution.
Explanation :-
y = 5x - 4 — eq 1
5x - y = -4 —- eq 2
Step 1 :- find x by substituting y = 5x - 4 in eq 2.
5x - (5x - 4) = -4 ⇒ 5x - 5x + 4 = -4
4 = -4
Here we get 4 = -4 which is always false i.e solutions do not exist
They are parallel with each other and have no solutions
∴ They have no solution for the given system of equations.
