Question
Solve System of equations using Substitution :
X = Y + 6
X + Y = 10
Hint:
find y by substituting x (in terms of y) in the equation and find x by substituting value of y in the equations.
The correct answer is: x = 8 ; y = 2
Ans :- x = 8 ; y = 2
Explanation :-
X = y + 6 — eq 1
X + y = 10—- eq 2
Step 1 :- find y by substituting x = y + 6 in eq 2.
x + y = 10 ⇒ y + 6 + y = 10
⇒ 2y = 10 – 6 ⇒ 2y = 4
⇒ y = 2
Step 2 :- substitute value of y and find x
⇒ x = y+6 ⇒ x = (2) + 6
∴ x = 8
∴ x = 8 and y = 2 is the solution of the given pair of equations
