Solve the following by using the method of substitution
Y = - 3X + 2
Y = 7X - 8

The correct answer is: x = 1 ; y = -1

⇒ y = - 3x + 2 — eq 1
Y = 7x - 8 —- eq 2
Step 1 :- find x by substituting y = -3x + 2 in eq 2.
- 3x + 2 = 7x – 8  ⇒  2 + 8  = 7x + 3x
⇒ 10x = 10  ⇒  x = 1
⇒  x  =  1
Step 2 :- substitute value of x and find y
⇒ y = - 3x + 2 ⇒  y  = 3 (-1) + 2
⇒  y  =  - 3 + 2
∴  y =  - 1
∴  x =  1 and   y =  -1 is the solution of the given pair of equations.
