This scatter plot shows the amount copper in water in ppm versus plant growth in cm over three months. Draw an informal line of best for the given scatter plots.

    Step 1 of 2:
    The trend line is drawn so as to get the pattern of the relationship between the variables. When you draw a trend line make sure, majority of the points lie comparatively close to the line.
    Step 2 of 2:
    So, the corresponding line for the graph is:


    Here, the points lie closely around the line even though they are not on line.
     

    It is not necessary that the line should contain all the points, since we use it to approximate the pattern for the given data. Moreover, a scatter plot could have more than one trend line, but choosing one that shows the behavior of the data should be considered.
