Question

What is the value of x in 4X+6= 2(2X+3)

hintHint:

An equation with variables on both sides of the "equal to" sign i.e. on LHS and RHS can be solved by first simplifying both the sides (Opening up the brackets, addition, subtraction, i.e. if any) and then all the variables are taken on 1 side of the equation and all the constants i.e. numbers on the other side. Both sides are then simplified further and the solution is obtained

The correct answer is: The given system of equations have infinitely many solutions.

    Step-by-step solution:-
    4x + 6 = 2(2x + 3)
                                                                                         ∴ 4x + 6 = (2 × 2x) + (2 × 3) ..................... [Distributive property- a (m + n) = am + an]
                                                                                                  ∴ 4x + 6 = 4x + 6
                                                                                                   ∴ 4x - 4x = 6 - 6 …....................... (Taking all variables and constants on either sides                                                                                                                                                                                                                   of the equation)
                                                                                                         ∴ 0 = 0
Since, LHS = RHS the given set of equations are identical and hence, has infinitely many solutions. i.e. for any value of x, the given equation will be satisfied.
    Final Answer:-
∴ The given system of equations have infinitely many solutions.
