- =
- >
Hint:
1. When we compare 2 fraction, we check which one of the 2 is larger and which one is smaller and accordingly, assign the appropriate inequality sign i.e. greater than > or less than < to the 2 fractions.
2. If the denominators of the 2 fractions are different, we find the LCM of the denominator and multiply the denominators to make them equal to the LCM and then compare the numerators.
The correct answer is: =
GIVEN-
Fraction 1 = 2/4
Fraction 2 = 3/6
TO FIND-
Comparison between the 2 fractions.
SOLUTION-
From the given information, we observe that-
The denominators of both the fractions are different i.e. 4 & 6.
Hence, find the LCM of 4 & 6 i.e. 12.
We make the denominators equal to 12 as-
Fraction 1 = 2/4 = 2*3 / 4*3 = 6/12 ....................................... (Multiplying numerator and denominator by 3)
Fraction 2 = 3/6 = 3*2 / 6*2 = 6/12 ....................................... (Multiplying numerator and denominator by 2)
Now, the denominators are same, we compare the numerators as-
6 = 6
∴ Fraction 1 = Fraction 2
FINAL ANSWER-
Option 'c' i.e. '=' is the correct answer to the given question.
