Question

If Mosteller’s and Current’s formulas give the same estimate for A, which of the following expressions is equivalent to square root of h w end root ?
Mosteller’s formula: A = fraction numerator square root of h w end root over denominator 60 end fraction
Current’s formula: A = fraction numerator 4 space plus space w over denominator 30 end fraction
The formulas above are used in medicine to estimate the body surface area A, in square meters, of infants and children whose weight w ranges between 3 and 30 kilograms and whose height h is measured in centimetres.

  1. fraction numerator 4 space plus space w over denominator 2 end fraction
  2. fraction numerator 4 space plus space w over denominator 1800 end fraction
  3. 2( 4 + w)
  4. left parenthesis 4 space plus space w right parenthesis squared over 2

The correct answer is: 2( 4 + w)

HINT –  Try and remove A from Mosteller’s equation
    SOLUTION -  Mosteller’s formula :  A =  square root of h w end root      ---- (1)
    Current’s formula : A = fraction numerator 4 space plus space w over denominator 30 end fraction
Put value of A from (1) in above equation
We get, fraction numerator square root of h w end root over denominator 60 end fraction =  fraction numerator 4 plus w over denominator 30 end fraction

    Hence, option C is true

Mosteller's equation: "A=sqrt(hw)/60" The current equation is A=(4+w)/30. In medicine, the formulas mentioned above are used to calculate the body surface area A, in square meters, of newborns and kids whose weights (w) range from 3 to 30 kilograms and whose heights (h) are measured in centimeters.

The scatterplot above shows data for ten charities along with the line of best fit. For the charity with the greatest percent of total expenses spent on programs, which of the following is closest to the difference of the actual percent and the percent predicted by the line of best fit?

Expenses are sums of money spent on goods or services. It is defined as the amount of money required to obtain something."It takes money to make money," as the adage goes. Supplier payments, employee wages, factory leases, and equipment depreciation are all everyday expenses.
For example, running a car can be costly in terms of fuel, repairs, and insurance.
Profit (P): When a product is sold for more than its cost, the seller makes a profit.
Loss (L): When a product is sold for less than its cost, the seller suffers a loss.
