Question

A Plan for a skateboard ramp shows that the plywood for the triangular sides of the ramp should be cut such that for every 9 inches of height, the triangle should have a base that is 33 inches long. What is the height of the skateboard ramp shown :

hintHint:

Try to find the height for every 1 inch of base.

The correct answer is: 30 in.

    It is given that
not stretchy rightwards double arrowFor every 9 inches of height, height of the triangle = 33 in.
not stretchy rightwards double arrow For every 33 inches of base, height of the triangle = 9 in.
not stretchy rightwards double arrow For every 1 inch of base, height of the triangle = 9 over 33 in.
In the figure, base = 110 in.
    Þ Height of the triangle = 9 over 33 cross times 110
    = 30 in.
