Question

Find the area of a trapezium whose parallel sides measure 60cm and 77cm and non-parallel sides are 25cm and 26cm.

hintHint:

Draw the parallel line from B parallel to AD which cuts the CD at E .
We get a triangle and parallelogram. we find the area of triangle in both heron's
method and using formula area = ½ b × h and equating we get height h
Now , find the area of Trapezium =  ½ height  × (sum of lengths of parallel sides).

The correct answer is: 1644 cm2

    Ans :- 1,644 cm2.
    Explanation :-
Step 1:- Given lengths of parallel sides is 60 and 77 cm .
Length of non parallel sides is 25 and 26 cm
We get a triangle and parallelogram ABED

we get BE = 25 cm ; DE = 60 cm (opposites sides of parallelogram )
    CE = CD-DE = 77 - 60 = 17 cm .

Step 2:- Equate the areas and find value of height h
17 cross times h divided by 2 equals 204 not stretchy rightwards double arrow h equals 408 over 17 equals 24 cm
Step 3:-Find the area of trapezium
text  Areaoftrapezium  end text equals 1 half cross times left parenthesis text  height  end text right parenthesis cross times left parenthesis text  sumoflengthsofparallelsides  end text right parenthesis
text  Area of trapezium  end text equals 1 half left parenthesis 24 right parenthesis left parenthesis 60 plus 77 right parenthesis equals 12 cross times 137 equals 1 comma 644 cm squared
Therefore, Area of trapezium ABCD  = 1,644 cm2.

Identify all pairs of congruent corresponding parts. Then write another congruence statement for the
    figures

Two polygons are considered to be congruent if the sides and angles match. When two sides or angles have the same length are considered to be congruent. We demonstrate that the angles are congruent by inserting the same slash marks through each one.
The symbol for congruence is ≅ and can be written as △ABC ≅ △DEF. ∠A is equivalent to ∠D, ∠B to ∠E, and ∠C to ∠F. Side AB corresponds to DE, BC to EF, and AC to DF.
Two triangles are formed with three sides that are congruent. Triangles are congruent if all three pairs of corresponding sides are congruent.
