Question

8x − 2x(c + 1) = x
In the equation above, c is a constant. If the equation has infinitely many solutions,  what is the value of c ?

  1. 3 over 2
  2. 5 over 2
  3. 7 over 2
  4. 9 over 2

The correct answer is: 5 over 2

    8x - 2x (c+1) = x
    8x - 2cx - 29 = x
    6x - 2cx = x
    5x=2cx
    2c = 5
    c = 5 over 2.
