Question
Solve System of equations using Substitution :
Y = 2X-1
2X +3 Y = -7
Hint:
find x by substituting y (in terms of x) in the equation and find y by substituting value of x in the equations .
The correct answer is: x = -0. 5 ; y = -2
Ans :- x = -0. 5 ; y = -2
Explanation :-
y = 2x - 1— eq 1
2x + 3y = -7—- eq 2
Step 1 :- find x by substituting y = 2x - 1 in eq 2.
2x + 3(2x - 1) = -7 ⇒ 2x + 6x – 3 = -7
⇒ 8x = 3 -7 ⇒ 8x = -4
⇒ x = -0.5
Step 2 :- substitute value of x and find y
⇒ y = 2x - 1 ⇒ y = 2 (-0.5) -1
⇒ y = -1 - 1
∴ y = -2
∴ x= -0.5 and y = -2 is the solution of the given pair of equations.
