Solve the following by using the method of substitution
X = 3y - 2
7Y - 2X = 8
Hint:
find y by substituting x (in terms of y) in the equation and find x by substituting value of y in the equations.
The correct answer is: x = 10 ; y = 4
Ans :- x = 10 ; y = 4
Explanation :-
⇒ x = 3y - 2 — eq 1
7y - 2x = 8—- eq 2
Step 1 :- find y by substituting x = 3y - 2 in eq 2.
7y – 2 (3y - 2) = 8 ⇒ 7y - 6y + 4 = 8
⇒ y + 4 = 8 ⇒ y = 8 - 4
⇒ y = 4
Step 2 :- substitute value of y and find x
⇒ x = 3y – 2 ⇒ x = 3 (4) -2
⇒ x = 12 - 2
∴ x = 10
∴ x = 10 and y = 4 is the solution of the given pair of equations.
