Question

Which two integers is square root of 2 between?

  1. 0 and 1
  2. 1 and 2
  3. 3 and 4
  4. 2 and 3

hintHint:

In this question we have given the square root number and we have to find in which two numbers it lies. Squares as well as square roots Both ideas are diametrically opposed to one another. Squares are the numbers that are produced when a value is multiplied by itself. In contrast, a number's square root is a value that, when multiplied by itself, returns the original value.

The correct answer is: 1 and 2

Here the number we have given is square root of 2
. Now we have to find in which two numbers it lies. First we will find the squares of each number starting from 1 and then when we will reach till 2 we will stop that.
Lets start with 1, we have:
    1 squared equals 1
2 squared equals 4
    Lets equate this now:
    1 < 2 < 4
Taking square root on all, we get:
square root of 1 space less than space square root of 2 space less than space square root of 4
    Simplifying it, we get:
1 space less than space square root of 2 space less than space 2
So here we can see that 2 is lying between 1 and 4, which is 12 and 22.

Here we were given the number square root of 2 and we were supposed to find in between what numbers it lies. So we started of with finding the squares of number and computed in which number it lies, and we found that it lies in between 12 and 22.
