Question

(𝑥, 𝑦) → (𝑥, − 𝑦) represents

  1. Reflection in the X-axis
  2. Reflection in the Y-axis
  3. Reflection in the x = y

hintHint:

In reflection, mirror image of the original figure is created about axis of reflection

The correct answer is: Reflection in the X-axis

We know that reflection is mirror image of given point where axis of reflection act as plain mirror. So, when a point is reflected about x – axis, then the x – coordinate remains same, but the y – coordinate becomes negative.
    It is given that (𝑥, 𝑦) → (𝑥, − 𝑦).
    i.e. x – coordinate is same and y – coordinate becomes negative.
Hence, reflection in the x – axis.
