Question

The area of a trapezium is 34cm2 and the length of one of the parallel sides is 10cm and its height is 4cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.

hintHint:

Now , find the area of Trapezium =  ½ height × (sum of lengths of parallel sides).
We know the area , one of the parallel sides and height of trapezium .
Substitute them in the above area formula and obtain the length of the other parallel side.

The correct answer is: 7 cm

    Ans :- 7 cm.
    Explanation :-
Given, area of trapezium = 34 sq.cm ,the length of  parallel side is 10cm
Let the length of the other parallel side be x cm .
Altitude or height = 4 cm
text  Area of trapezium  end text equals 1 half left parenthesis text  height  end text right parenthesis left parenthesis text  sum of lengths of parallel sides  end text right parenthesis
not stretchy rightwards double arrow 34 equals 1 half left parenthesis 4 right parenthesis left parenthesis 10 plus x right parenthesis not stretchy rightwards double arrow 34 cross times 2 over 4 equals 10 plus x not stretchy rightwards double arrow 17 equals 10 plus x
not stretchy rightwards double arrow x equals 17 minus 10 not stretchy rightwards double arrow x equals 7
Therefore, the length of the unknown parallel side is 7 cm .

The scatterplot above shows the revenue, in millions of dollars, that a company carned over several years and a line of best fit for the data. In Year 4 , the difference between the actual revenue and the predicted revenue is  n million dollars, where  is a posative integer. What is the value of  n ? Round your answer to the nearest whole number. (Disregard the 5 sign when gridding your answer.)

    Note:
As we are not certain if the point of the actual revenue is exactly at the midpoint of 50 and 60, so instead of taking the midpoint 55, we can also take it to be 54 or 56.
Then the value of n can be 4 or 6 too.
